Tianjin Professional College Library was established in 1978. And as the dimension of this college expands continuously, the current acreage of the library is nearly 6000 m2 which is consisted of old community and new community. the acreage of new library which is in construction is 9,657m?,and the planned acreage is 36,000m2.
Through more than 20-year's construction and development, our library has formed a comprehensive one which specialized in its collection pertaining to engineering and scientific and technical literature. Its collection has included 55,900 books, 1,165,600 electronic books, 659 kinds of Chinese and foreign language newspapers and periodicals material, 20 sorts of Chinese and Foreign language databases and 1 self-constructed database. According to the development orientation and major setting of this college, we have currently collected literature relating to majors such as machine, electronics, chemistry, computer, environmental protection, glasses technique, printing and finance, meanwhile we have the film edition of imperial collection of four collected by Wen Yuan pavilion.
We have currently 1,000 seats in thegeneral reading room and 120 seats in electronic reading room. We have become one member of Tianjin Higher Education digital library Initiative in 2002 and applied automatized management system for library exploited by American SIRSI company, thus realizing automatized management to catalogue of Chinese and foreign language books, circulation and periodical etc. We also applied the Meto Pro multimedia data management system in 2006, realizing the systematical management to discs accompanied the books.
Taking "people-orientation, reader-first" as our service conception, we adopt open management, providing our readers with totally shelve-opened borrowing and reading and help yourseclf style service.
The library sets seven departments which respectively are office, information department, digital resource construction department, technique department, purchasing and catalogue department, circulation department and archives with 30 employees, four of whom are postgraduates. |
